MedAccred Features at 13th Annual Medical Device Quality Congress

08 March 2016

Attendees at this year’s FDAnews Medical Device Quality Congress in Washington DC, USA will receive an update on the MedAccred program’s recent progress by Joe Pinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Performance Review Institute (PRI). The annual event takes place from March 15-17 2016 with MedAccred featuring on Wednesday March 16th from 11.15am to 12.00pm.

Two of the program’s accredited suppliers will also be providing an insight into their experiences with MedAccred.  Solar Atmospheres Inc. was the first company in the world to receive an accreditation from the MedAccred program and last month became the first to be reaccredited.  Ed Engelhard, Vice President of Corporate Quality, will offer his views on why MedAccred is such an important initiative for the medical device industry and the reasons why his company decided to pursue an accreditation for Heat Treating.  Paul Hugo is the Director of Corporate Quality for Global Technologies and will explain how and why his company recently became the first to achieve an electronics accreditation for Cable and Wire Harnesses.

MedAccred is an industry-managed supply chain accreditation program which has been created to enhance device quality and most importantly to improve patient safety.  The program is establishing stringent process-specific technical audit criteria for critical processes that incorporate industry standards along with specific OEM requirements.  The MedAccred audit program replaces some of the routine critical process supplier audits conducted by many OEMs with one robust and technically superior audit.
